Wreath-laying service for Vietnam Veterans’ Day (18 August)

PUBLISHED February 2023

Informal service for Vietnam Veterans' Day on Friday 18 August 2023.

Vietnam Veterans’ Day is commemorated each year on 18 August, the anniversary of the Battle for Long Tan in 1966.

On Friday 18 August, we will commemorate Vietnam Veterans’ Day with an informal wreath-laying service at the Walkway. The service will remember the sacrifices of those who died, and thank the almost 60,000 Australians who served during the 10 years of Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War.

Similar to Remembrance Day, and the recent informal service for the 80th anniversary of the Battle for Sanananda, our service will comprise a short address, followed by the laying of wreaths or poppies at the Memorial Centrepiece from interested ex-service groups and individuals with a connection to those who served in the Vietnam War.

Details of the service will be provided before the date, however it is expected to commence at 10.30am, and will be finalised by 11.00am. In the meantime, please contact us should you have any questions. We hope to see you there.

Lest we forget.
