The Walkway

Café & Covered Function Area

Relax in the tranquil surrounds of the Walkway.

While at the Walkway, you are welcome to use the covered function area (for a fee) or bring your own food and relax in the tranquil surrounds of the Walkway.

At this time, the cafe is closed, however it is expected new operators will re-open the cafe mid-2024. Once details are known they will be publicised here.

The City of Canada Bay Council was responsible for the tender process to find a suitable operator.

The Walkway does not operate the cafe. When it re-opens, any enquries about the cafe operations (menu options or any other aspects) should be directed to cafe staff.

The cafe is expected to re-open in 2024.

Entry to the Walkway and gardens is free, and you can visit any day of the week and enjoy the surrounds. However, our fully-equipped covered function area (with BBQs, undercover seating, lighting and power) is available for hire for birthdays, reunions or other special events on any day, not just when the office is open. The covered area can seat approximately 70 people comfortably.

Bookings are essential, and a $100.00 fee will apply. This fee applies if you wish to use the function area with or without the BBQs. Please use the forms here to first provisionally book then, following confirmation, pay for these.

The BBQ/undercover function area Conditions of Use can be viewed here.

Please clean up after your visit and remain respectful at all times while at the Walkway.

Our friends the brush turkeys also enjoy the Walkway’s lush gardens. However, please do not feed them, and take care as often they scratch mulch/debris onto the pathways.

Enjoy your visit and remember that the Walkway is a memorial built to honor those who served and paid the supreme sacrifice in the defense of Australia.

All funds raised through bookings are used directly to improve the facilities at the Walkway.

Enjoy your visit and remember that the Walkway is primarily a war memorial so please treat it with respect.

We welcome your feedback following your visit to the Walkway.

The Walkway’s success is dependent on the goodwill and services of many volunteers. You may wish to support the Walkway by becoming a volunteer, joining the Friends of Kokoda or by donating
