Following the death of Ernie Walker OAM this week, the Board of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway, together with our many volunteers, extend our sympathy to his family and friends. Ernie was a proud veteran who served his country in World War Two, including as a Rat of Tobruk and in the Kokoda campaign. Ernie was a grand 106 years of age. Ernie was an avid supporter of the Walkway, and attended many of our commemorative events, the last time being at our Anzac Day service in April this year. Ernie was the last NSW Rat of Tobruk, and we pay tribute to a marvellous life, and especially extend our sympathies to his beloved wife, Bev. Thank you for your service Ernie. Lest we forget.
