KTMW Office re-opens Monday 16 January 2023 + new initiatives

PUBLISHED January 2023

The Walkway office re-opens after the holiday break; update on new initiatives.

Happy new year to our many friends, supporters, volunteers and partners!

Office re-opens: Following the holiday period, the Walkway office will re-open on Monday 16 January 2023. Visitors to the Walkway are welcome to drop in, during the office hours of 10.00am to 2.00pm.

Update on new initiatives: 2023 promises to be another busy year at the Walkway, including:

  • adding the names of Australian personnel killed (or subsequently dying of wounds) during each of the battles/locations detailed in each of the 22 Stations along the Walkway. To date, the names of those KIA have been completed for Sanananda and Buna.
  • the addition of QR codes to each of the 22 Stations, allowing visitors to the Walkway to scan these on their mobile device and then be directed to the detailed information located on the webpage for that Station.
  • additional signage at the Brays Bay Reserve entrance, which will increase the awareness of the Walkway for both motorists and pedestrians. Work is expected to commence soon.
  • recommencing historical talks and presentations on Kokoda-related topics, which will be held in the Education Centre. These talks will be available for Friends of Kokoda members to enhance the value of their membership. Details of the first presentation will be released soon.
