The Walkway held an informal service to commemorate Vietnam Veterans' Day.
On Friday 18 August 2023, the Walkway held a short informal service at the Memorial Centrepiece to commemorate Vietnam Veterans’ Day.
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s decade-long engagement from 1962 to 1972, which saw 60,000 Australians involved, with 523 Australian fatalities.
KTMW Board Chair Jennifer Colins AM welcomed those present, which included family members of Vietnam veterans. A short prayer followed, while a lone piper played while wreaths and individual poppies were laid on the Memorial Centrepiece rock. The Ode then concluded proceedings.
