Australia's Governor-General is the Walkway's new Patron
The KTMW Board is pleased to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, has agreed to become the Walkway’s Patron.
Her Excellency stated: ‘I am delighted to become Patron of the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway … the Kokoda campaign was a critical moment in Australia’s history and the Walkway provides a valuable opportunity for us to reflect on the services and sacrifices of our soldiers, their families and the generations of service men and women who have followed.”
Ms Mostyn is a businesswoman and community leader, known for her exceptional service to the Australian community. She has a long history in executive and governance roles across diverse sectors, including business, sport, climate change, the arts, policy and not-for-profit. Ms Mostyn was sworn in as Australia’s 28th Governor-General on 1 July 2024.
KTMW Board Chair, Ms Jennifer Collins AM, stated that it was an honour for Ms Mostyn to accept the Board’s invitation to become Patron. ‘The Board is especially pleased Ms Mostyn has become Patron given her exceptional service and experience,’ Ms Collins said, ‘and we hope to welcome Her Excellency to the Walkway in the near future.’

The Walkway’s previous Patron was General the Honourable David Hurley AC CVO DSC (Retd), who was Governor-General from 2019 to 2024.
