2023 Anzac Day Service @ the Walkway

PUBLISHED April 2023

The Walkway's 2023 Anzac Day service was held on Saturday 22 April.

On Saturday 22 April, the KTMW Board was pleased host their annual Anzac Day service.

Our guest speaker was Lt Col Garth Callender, who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. NSW Veterans Minister, the Hon David Harris MP, delivered the Requiem.

Other MPs attending were Sally Sitou, Federal MP for Reid, and NSW Members Stephanie Di Pasqua (Drummoyne) and Matt Cross (Davidson). The choir came from Strathfield North Public School, who assisted with musical numbers, including the New Zealand national anthem in Maori (well done to all!). Among many former servicemen and women was Kokoda veteran Reg Chard OAM.

We also had a number of members from the consular diplomatic corps, including those from New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom. Other special guests were representatives from many of our partner RSL sub-branches.

Wreaths were laid by all special guests, as well as representatives from schools, community groups and individuals. The NSW Corrective Services Band once again provided their expertise throughout the service.

In total approximately 400 attended, and we thank all for taking the time to participate in this special event. The Board also thanks the many Walkway volunteers who assisted in the lead up and on the day, as well as other volunteers from the Communities for Communities (C4C) organisation.

Lest We Forget.
